Pros and cons of Peekaboo Fridge™ app for iPhone and iPad
Peekaboo Fridge™ app good for
We have peekaboo barn which has a French option. Would be really nice if this app also had a French option or at the very least a recording option for parents to record in their language.
I know these Peekaboo apps seem simple- but preschoolers love them. And Ive found that theyre excellent for second language learners. I work with children with special needs- and some of them are just learning English. Now that I can put my phone on Guided Access so that they cant get out of the app and mess with my phone its fantastic to have the Peekaboo series- whenever Im in the car with them they can pick one and play it while I drive so that theyre getting some language content!
My biggest complaint about this app is that it doesnt have the record-your-own-language option that Peekaboo Barn has. Seriously- if you have a feature like that, why wouldnt you put it in all your apps of the series? I work with French speaking children too and Id love to be able to record and type in the French words for the characters and be able to use it with Francophone children as well. Heck- I love having childrens parents record in their native language to Peekaboo Barn, itd be great to have that feature show up in the rest of the series! Once that happens Ill add the extra star.
My son (1,5)was watching it for 5 min which is a good sign,so I may consider this purchase as reasonable
Some bad moments
The app (foods) needs more sound and/or dance when you open the refrigerator. Truthfully its very boring. Please update and make it more fun so I dont feel so disappointed in buying it.
we were so excited for this app to come out! my 15 month old son loves the other peekaboo games, but this one just didnt grab his attention. I think part of that is for the reasons the other reviewer talked about, but also the noises just didnt draw him in. I. the other games, the noises are louder and bolder, which grabs his attention and makes him curious. but the sounds the fridge friends make were so quiet and not attention-grabbing that he quickly lost interest.
First off my 13.5 month son loves Peek a Boo Barn and Wild. We also have Forest-- its ok. However, what they all have that this one doesnt is the Spanish version. What happened here? Thats one of the first things we looked for. The fruit/vegetable graphics are ok. They need more depth. Also why do the fruit/vegetables have noses? The broccoli and lettuce graphics definitely need updating. There needs to be music attached to the fruit/vegetables not sounds. The sounds just seems odd. Also add more appropriate graphics- tomatoes, asparagus, blueberries, cauliflower, butter. Things you will find in the fridge. I also suggest replacing that juicebox with orange juice or something more healthy. Consider having more than one fruit/vegetables on the screen. For instance, bananas come in bunches so show a banana and a bunch of bananas in the background. The most fun/interesting part is the party at the end. The sleeping part is also odd (that part also takes too long to come up) at the party they are all there then all of a sudden most of the food disappeared and only appeared on one shelf. Please go back and make updates you have a good concept but I dont think it should have been released yet.
My 2-year-old walks around the house copying the eggs saying, "oh yea." I love these Peekaboo apps for fun vocabulary building. Fridge item names have been a new addition to my sons world so we were excited to find a tool to encourage pronunciation. And in terms of kids toys, you cant beat the price. The only thing you find at the toy store for $2 are wind up toys from China.
First off I have to say my son loves playing this, especially since these are words we have recently been working on BUT what the heck is up with the SOUNDS they make??? Honestly the weird grunts and words sound pervy, my husband overheard him playing it on my phone and asked what the hell is he playing?! Seriously he tries to mimic these sounds that have no correlation to the foods and it annoys me, just no sound please, the knocking is enough. Thanks!
Our daughter loves peekaboo barn and peekaboo forest (although is the iPhone version and we played it in the iPad) and my husband and I love the multilingual options! I was very excited when I saw this one and assumed it will have the same options as the other ones. Very disappointed that only has English! Really hoping you will update it soon and include other languages and the options for mama and papa to record their own voice!
